Information about the Torfean County
Torfean County was formed in 1974 as a district of Gwent and was upgraded to a county in 1996. Torfean County has a population of 91,000 and share a border with Monmouthshire county. It’s name means old river (The Afon Lywd-Grey River flows through the county starting at Bleanavon and ending at Cwmbran.).
The county has many historical sites, Pontypool Park is one of them, the area is home to sport facility and park. The area also has a rich history in coal mining and I ironwork industries;the industries thrived in the Bleanavon Booktown area; Bleanavon is also UNESC World Heritage Site.
In conclusion, Torfean County bad many things to offer. In addition to the historical sites citizens and visitors can shop at Cwmbran Shopping Mall, Wales largest indoor shopping mall, partake on skiing at Pontypool Ski Center, or sail the infamous Aflon Lywd River.
