Records for mid and south Kent are held at the Kent History Centre. Records (except for the Parish records) for east Kent are also housed in the Kent History Centre.
The hours for the centre are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 9 am to 6 pm; Thursday 9:00 am to 8 pm; Saturday 9:00 am to 5 pm; closed on Sundays.
Records for search at the Centre include:
• Marriage, burial and baptism records starting in 1538
• Families, estates and manors records beginning from the 13th Century
• Maps dating back to the 1500s
• Photographs and prints dating from the 19th Century to the present
The extensive library located with the centre contains a large section on Kent history.
The parish records for northwest Kent are held at the Medway Archives and Local Studies Centre.

The office is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. It is closed on Wednesday. It is opened on Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm. Appointments to use the search room are required. The oldest document at the centre dates back to 604. They have large online catalogue for researchers to use at their convenience.
The parish records for east Kent are at the Canterbury Cathedral Archives. Parish archives can also be accessed on line.

The reading rooms and the archives’ library are open on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:15 am to 4:45 pm by appointment. Mondays and Fridays the archives are open for pre-booked visitors. Saturday openings are possible but inquire first.
