The Glamorgan Archives collects, restores and preserves documents, photographs, historic geographic data, genealogical data and architectural plans pertaining to the area and its past and current inhabitants. The Archive also has the staff and facilities necessary in providing preservation and/or restorative services to Documents and/or other archival materials. Either organizations or private individuals may avail themselves of the archive’s restorative services; inquiries for such services should be made through the above noted contact sources.

The Archives also serves the Archival needs of the Borough’s of Bridgend, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Vale of Glamorgan and the City and County of Cardiff. Anyone wishing to utilize the archives services pertaining to any of these area’s should contact the Archives directly during normal business hours. The research rooms are open to public access on Monday’s between the hours of 1pm and 5pm and Tuesday through Friday between the hours of 9am and 5pm. the archives should be contacted directly for hours of operation during Holidays.

Archival material pertaining to the former counties of Mid and South Glamorgan are available to those wishing to access information related to people and places of those area’s. The records stored at the Archive would stretch over 8 kilometers in length if measured. So there is plenty of data to mine for those wishing to do so.

We collect material from private and organizational sources. Anyone whom believes they are in possession of material which may be suitable for addition to our collection are welcome to contact the Archive so that our Collection Policy can be discussed. Once apprised of our policies, arrangements can be made to examine the material and determine
suitability. Private individuals have the option of Gifting material or placing material on Deposit. Ownership is retained when placing material on deposit and certain terms will need to be agreed upon. When Gifting is the preferred option, an agreement of transfer of ownership will be required.
